GOOD LUCK to ROOKIE participants!!

Good luck to all who are participating in THE ROOKIE this weekend!!

Tips for a fun race:

  • When you rack your bike, make a note of your transition spot in relation to the swim entrance, bike in/out, and run exit. Count racks to determine how far away your spot is from the entrances.
  • At the swim start, remain calm and comfortable. If you're nervous about the swim, count to 10 when the gun goes off and let the other swimmers start, It's worth waiting 10 seconds to have peace of mind during the swim!
  • If you begin to feel anxious during the swim, it's OK to do breastroke or backstroke for a while, or just tread water. Concentrate on breathing out s-l-o-w-l-y.
  • Have fun on the bike and enjoy the scenery.
  • Don't push too hard on the bike. As you're climbing hills, get into an easy gear and save your legs for the run.
  • The first 5 - 10 minutes of the run will feel very hard, but your body will adapt soon enough - just in time for the turnaround and then it's all downhill.
  • Be sure to cheer for your fellow Rookies as you pass by them on the out and back course!
  • As you finish the course, don't forget to cross the finish line with a smile!

There will be a Tri Zones tent at the race site -- come see us afterwards and say hello!

GOOD LUCK!!!
