CapTex 2007 race report
OK. So, the official race did not happen. After breakfast and a two hour nap, I was feeling the taper and the carbo loads and REALLY wanted to get a good workout. I was also agonizing over spending 128 bucks on a t-shirt that I didn't earn the right to wear!! So, I decided to do my own CapTex...
Starting at 3:04pm Monday afternoon, I did a 29.6 mile bike ride... Then after a T1 of about 47 minutes (man that sucks!) to get out to Pflugerville Lk, the swim took 1hour and 3 minutes since I was constantly making sure someone would stay out there that long (ok that's my excuse!). It was a very well supported open water swim of a gps verified distance of 1mile (yeeeeha!). Now T2 was really pathetic: 11 1/2 hours which included a very important TDT meeting (I have my priorities!), food, water, TDT e-mails and sleep. I finished the tri with a 6 mile run including a 2/3 mile cooldown (run was 55 or 56 minutes?) at about 8:19am Tuesday morning... Official times are still not out yet. They are on my watch still...
But, I want to wear my t-shirt! So, I need an IUATAJFC (Informal, Unofficial, Austin, Triathlon, Assoc, Just, For, Cindy) ruling. Can I say I lost my Olympic Virginity and wear this frickin' shirt??!?!
Thanks to Annette for hanging out in the downpour and for doing the bike ride with me. Thanks to NXNW for the timing on their swim and the support in doing it. Thanks to Vickie and Kenneth for supporting with their kayaks and for swimming the last laps with me. It was a great race!
And if I am the only fool to have done this, perhaps I am the winner! See, Pam, there is another way to win your age group! Make up your own rules!!!!! Yeeeeha! :-)

You're #1!!!
You are a winner!!! I like this way of winning!! I'm going to go find something to win at now!

You've got my vote!!
But you might consider listening to your own transition talk tonight! ;) Vick

You might have come up with a new type of tri
I bet more people would do the Olympic distance if they could eat and sleep during transitions. Heck, I might even consider doing that distance with a T2 of 11 hours!
Congratulations on losing your Olympic Virginity - wear your shirt proudly!
Rita

Genius!
That was genius! Pure genius! That's the way to tri hard...live easy!

My pleasure-now where's that award???
I'll be glad to help you win again anytime!! I didn't realize we had an actual verified distance (my T1 to Lake Pville featured a bathroom stop at the HEB and I missed the announcement that the GPS was being used). Now I feel like a wimp for only doing 1200 meters! (and not running the 10K with you in your neighborhood, my priority being taking advantage of Kenneth and Vickie's hospitality)
Calling Brad Davison -- where did you hide those awards?? Give one to Cindy! She earned it!
- Annette

24 hour race
Wow, Cindy, sounds like you could do one of those 24 hour races, where you mountain bike as much as possible for 24 hours, but you can take breaks to sleep and eat.. thats what your story reminded me of anyway..
I say you are now an experienced Olympic Triathlete. Maybe transition times can be your next area of focus..
