Kim Carlson

Coach - South teams

Kim’s first Triathlon was Danskin® 2001. Kim has always been a runner, but wasn’t entirely sure about the swim and didn’t even own a bike as a child. She bought her first bike to train and race the Danskin®. Kim had a great first triathlon experience and finished with her sight on training better for the “next time.”

Unfortunately, knee surgery led to rehabilitation and watching from the sidelines for all of 2002. To make the year even tougher, Kim lost her aunt and her mother to cancer within 3 months of each other that summer. For Kim, getting back to Danskin® took on a whole new meaning. With many obstacles to overcome, she really wanted to get an exercise program back in her life. Signing up for Team Danskin® Training in 2003 was the perfect exercise program and training she needed. She fell in love with her heart rate monitor and couldn’t wait to tell everyone about her new perspective on training and Heart Zones. Inspired by the atmosphere of the Danskin® triathlon, she looked forward to her next triathlon with a renewed spirit and training plan.

Her “next time” has turned into the completion of over 20 triathlons and she is looking forward to a full season in 2007! Kim has been a Workout Leader for Team Danskin® Training since 2004 and has made it her specialty of recruiting people to “try a TRI” especially those who said they would never be caught in public wearing a swim cap!

Kim was head coach of Team Danskin Training - South Austin in 2007 and looks forward to helping out with Tri Zones Training.
