Tri Zones Training

Last year, Gina and I had decided to do the Couples Triathlon together. We talked about wearing something that matched, and Gina remembered that we both happen to own a two-piece swimsuit in a matching Hawaiian print. We decided to wear the Hawaiian top with our black tri shorts. For our team name, we came up with Wikiwiki Wahine Wannabe’s (wikiwiki means fast, and wahine means women. Well, not that kind of fast!!). In previous years, the race featured some surprises for the participants, including a run route that took us up and down the moguls of a motocross course. Gina and I decided that we didn’t want to take the race too seriously, so along with our blue Hawaiian tops, we decided to wear leis and grass skirts, and decorate our helmets, running caps, and bikes with flowers. Gina even got us some hula girl socks! Inspired by our creativity, Dena and Lee decided to dress up, too. Since they both ride Guru bikes, they were the Guru-vy Gals. They used fabric paint to decorate peace signs and daisies on their white singlets, and they wore John Lennon-style sunglasses and looked very hip. The motocross course ended up not being part of the race last year, but we still all had a lot of fun.
