I've had my first equipment failure the night before a race. I discovered a broken spoke as I was loading my bike tonight : (... not sure when it broke, I can't imagine I was riding on it like that this week and again this morning , but...nevertheless I can't ride it the way it is now!
All the bike shops are closed so I've called the bike gurus I know . but without answer yet. I'm wondering if Jack's would be able to fix it for me in the morning? or is that being overly optimistic...I'm sure if I just had the right tools...I could do it!!
Anyway, hope to see you all in the morning, though I may have to trade my race number for a cowbell!

What size wheels do you have? 700's? 650's? Is this the front wheel or the back wheel?
Is anyone who's volunteering able to bring a wheel from their bike to help Stacey?

Well, I will bring my whole bike... But, I just had 2 flats in 3 rides and am afraid my tires are already worn... But, maybe a wheel will work (the front hasn't blown yet). But, I will bring bike and shoes just in case...

Cindy, I must have just missed your posting...I checked the forum just before 4:30 and when I didn't see any other responses, I decided it was all just too much to deal with. I thought about asking to borrow a bike (and shoes), but thats kinda like wearing someone else's glasses and I would feel absolutely awful if I damaged someone's precious...especially yours!!
I'm sorry you lugged your bike all that way just to help me and then I didn't show up, please forgive me...and I hope you are having a fun time just hanging back and helping out. Thanks again, see you later,
