Outlaw Trail 100 - Who's in?

Each year, the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department hosts the Outlaw Trail 100 bike tour featuring 10 mile, 25 mile, 40 mile, 50 mile, 63 mile, and 100 mile loop courses on county roads through historic Williamson County. Several TriZoners have been talking about doing the 40 miler.

Outlaw Trail isn't competitive; it is an opportunity to join cyclists from across Texas for a ride across Williamson County. There are 9 rest stops set up along the trail for cyclists to grab some snacks or a drink. Riders can ride at their own pace. The tour closes at 5 p.m. so cyclists should select a course they can finish within that time period.Riders can either register early with online registration, in person between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Round Rock Parks and Recreation office, 301 W. Bagdad Ste 250, Round Rock, TX 78664; or at late registration at the Old Settlers Tabernacle (at Old Settlers Park Entrance 3300 E Palm Valley Blvd) at packet pickup, or on Saturday morning between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. at Old Settlers Park on event day.
Date, time and place
8 a.m. October 20, 2007, at Old Settlers Park at 3300 E. Palm Valley Blvd. off Hwy. 79 - behind Dell Diamond.
A staggered start is planned with 100 milers leaving promptly at 8 a.m. No rider will start after 9 a.m. The course will close at 5 p.m. Parking will be available across from the pavilion unless the ground is wet. Then parking will be available at the Dell Diamond (at park entrance).
Entry fee and registration form
You can also register by mailing or faxing the registration form.
$25 per cyclist early registration; $30 late registration (October 13-20)
$3 per non-participant guest for pasta dinner
Packet Pickup
Packet pickup will be at the Old Settlers Park from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, along with a pasta dinner for registered cyclists. Guests pay $3 per person.
Event day Packet Pickup will be from 6:30 am to 8:00 am at the Lakeview Pavilion of Old Settlers Park (3300 E Palm Valley Blvd).
Awards
All participants receive a long-sleeved T-shirt, Clif Bar, City Sports Texas magazine, entrance to the pasta dinner on Friday, October 19, food at the finish line, Outlaw Trail 100 koozie and a Bicycle Sport Shop Outlaw Trail 100 water bottle.
Tour
10 mi, 25 mi, 40 mi, 50 mi, 63 mi (100 K), and 100 mi loop courses on county roads through historic eastern Williamson County. These challenging road courses will give you the taste of small town and rural life. Food and drink may be purchased in the towns if desired. See route map (requires Adobe Acrobat and may load slowly; color copy of official map will be available to all cyclists at event and in event packet.)
Travel Assistance
Sag wagons from Round Rock Parks and Recreation and Bicycle Sport Shop will provide road assistance and transport for those unable to complete the tour. Be prepared to handle your own flats and minor repairs. Remember, the course closes at 5 p.m.
Watering Holes
Rest areas will be located at 12 mile intervals (approx). Water, fruit and other snacks will be provided in addition to portable toilets and medical assistance.
Rules
This event will be held rain or shine unless extremely dangerous conditions exist. No refunds will be made. Participants will be started according to distance traveling – longest distance riders will leave first. All traffic laws must be obeyed at all times. Helmets are required.

Volunteers:
Volunteers are used at packet pickup, event-day check in, and along the course for rest stop support. If you're able to help between 8 am - 5 pm on October 20, please call 512-218-5540. Volunteers receive a T-shirt and goodies at the event.

C'mon, go for it!! They've got rest stops every 12 miles, you can do it!! :-)

Carolyn and I will be there going short since she is technically still recovering from her half iron. We will be at packet pick-up AKS the pasta dinner around 6pm for those that wish to join us.
