The Austin Triathlon is a premier international distance triathlon event held in downtown Austin. Imagine a world class triathlon held in Austin's front yard, but with the atmosphere and intimacy of a small hometown race. If you have done a Jack & Adam's event in the past, (The Rookie, Couples Triathlon, or Jack's Generic), then this is an event you definitely don't want to miss. Event features include:

  • Live music on the bike and run course
  • Free post race massage and ART
  • Free post race food, drinks, beer, and ice cream
  • Don T. Bonk
  • Squirt guns on the run course
  • Multi-sport expo
  • Finish Line Carnival with games and over $4000 in free stuff!
The Austin Triathlon course is a 1500 meter swim in scenic town lake, a 40 kilometer bike featuring historic and eclectic congress avenue, and 2 lap circuit run that is great for spectators. The bike course is completely new and will be 3 loops featuring both Congress Ave and S. Congress Ave.

Price goes up August 1

I haven't heard anyone talking about doing this one...I'm signing up for my first Olympic, ...yikes!

Any other takers?

Me!

I'm doing the olympic distance, again!

Yea! Me!

Carolyn, I'm so glad to know we'll be out there together! It looks like the run course is a bit different this year?  no out and back on 1st street? or am I just imagining that was the case last year?

cmarek59's picture

You're right!

The run course is different this year!  They added the part along Auditorium Shores with no out and back on 1st St.. which is fine by me! That part just seemed to take forever for some reason!

Yeaa!

that makes me happy; new territory without all the old vibes from the myriad of outs and backs of the past on that stretch!

Yay, Stacey and Carolyn!!

This is SUCH a fun event!!  I loved it last year although it was a fairly serious field of athletes competing...  This year, with the sprint distance as well, maybe it will be a little more on the fun side v. competitive.  Either way, I REALLY enjoyed it last year...  The bike is fast and fun.  Towne Lake is not that nasty (really!) and I like loops (bike and run) for the ability to gauge and pace yourself.  FUN, FUN course!!

But, I have been hanging around with the wrong crowd and have gotten roped into the Longhorn Half.  Had to cut something out, budget wise and goal wise.  I am not a hardcore, race everything kind of woman like Carolyn; I must pace myself!!!  :-)

I will most likely be out there volunteering though.  Just cuz I want to help but also to complete participating in all of the TX Tri Series.  That way I get to go to the series party... :-)

See y'all out there!  Stacey, you will love this race and do so well, I am sure!!  Yeeeeha!
Cindy

Thanks for those encouraging words

Fun, Fun, Fun...that will have to be my mantra when I'm PACING myself on the run!

whatever reason gets you out that day, it'll be great to see you

woohoo and yeehaa!!

Sweet!

Nice going Stacey - that little event in Marble Falls should have you well prepared for Austin Tri Olympic! I'm kind of on the fence for this one -- like Cindy I need to rein in the events I do a little bit, but like last year, I'll volunteer for something so I'll still be out there.

wouldn't be the same without you

but I know you need to do some careful, wise planning and minimize further problems with your leg.  Thanks for the confidence!

I hope you have a great time at River Cities; I have fond memories of that one and would love to do it again someday.

I'm interested

Although I haven't signed up yet.  If the price goes up August first, I better get going.  I'm going for the Olympic distance.  I just want to complete it, no time goals (although I'd like to finish before all the beer is gone-tee,hee)

 Kendra

Hope you do sign up!

How cool to do a triathlon right in the middle of downtown?!

Coach Cindy's picture

Do it, Kendra!!!!

Kendra,

Come on, come on, come on...  You will be SO glad you did!!!  And I need some Tri Zoners to root for out there while I am volunteering... :-)

Three Generations Are In

Kelly, Shannon, and I will do the sprint distance.

I'm in for the sprint...

Hopefully the cold water will make me swim faster.  :-)

I'm sprinting

Determined to have a better time than CapTex! Downtown is a lot of fun with a lot of spectators to help cheer.

I caught the Olympic Spirit so I'm going for the Olympic Distance.   It's going to be so much fun!!!

I don't think I'm participating (only volunteering) so flaunt your TZ colors so I can holler and ring cowbell!

After a work related hiatus, I am back in the saddle again! Hope I've had enough training time but trying to continue on with my TriZones workouts. Looking forward to it and hope to see a lot of familiar faces!

My first Olympic distance Triathlon

I've done a few sprint triathlons, so I am now pushing myself to do the Olympic distance Austin Triathlon.  I'm not sure if I'm ready for it, but here goes nothing!

 See you guys there!
