Is GASP the same as BASH??

Have you been in the beer already? I'm jealous! ;)

It's only a GASP this year,

It's only a GASP this year, not a BASH.  GASP is the ride from Austin, BASH is from Houston.  I've never done this ride before, but maybe this is the year!

I've always wanted to do that one

but it's always conflicted with Danskin training ;-) Maybe this IS the year for it. I like how the URL says bash but the ride is again GASP. I thought BASH stood for Bicycle Austin SanAntonio Houston, because the rides all originated in those cities and ended in Shiner..

Rob and I want to do this...

It's Sat May 3rd. 90 mi ride SE to Shiner. Chartered buses bring you back. I need some motivation to do a LONG ride!!

Anyone else in on this one? Annette? Does anyone know of anyone who has done it? Are Tri bikes OK? How do I find out the terrain?

Thanks guys--

Amber

Isn't beer...

What? Isn't beer motivation enough?  ;-)

Exactly...

That's why I am so excited about it! Sorry, it sounded like I was needing motivation, but the Shiner GASP HAS motivated me for a long ride! Would love company! Need to register today, if you want a lift back from Shiner to Austin...Ahhh....

in fact, if it's beer you're after..

I can't actually do the ride (although I want to!!) cause it's TZ Women's OWS day -- but Richelle is looking for volunteers to assist at the finish line. They get FREE beer & food. Amber, I saw your post on the TxI forum, someone will probably reply to you there.

I know Amy Bush & Scott White (probably others I've forgotten) have done this one -- but it was rainy so let's hope for a non-rainy ride this year! Me, I will be helping unload bikes off the transport back at the MET center after everyone's ridden and had their free beer & food in Shiner!!

The cues map is here: http://www.shinergasp.com/2008/routeCues/routeCues.php

(I'm not sure I'd stop at a rest stop in Cistern, Texas...)

Awesome...

Thanks for the info.  Looks like last year's ride was pretty grueling due to rain and winds.  I hope that was a fluke!  :P  Haven't signed up yet...Getting scared...I do have Shiner in my fridge...I could ride around the block and then go in and get it...Hmmm...
