Colleen Quindlen

Head Coach - South Women's-Only team

The first step is often scary but it can be the opening to big new skies. Colleen’s first step into triathlons came in 2005 when she timidly signed up for Team Danskin Training, under the leadership of Tri Zones coach Gina Lardon. Nervous, anxious, and enthusiastic, she had no idea what wonderful confidence, friendships, and challenges would result from that decision. She loved training with other strong women and became inspired by the coaches. Even before she crossed the finish line of her first triathlon, she knew she was addicted. She joined Tri Zones as an athlete that summer to continue her training and help her get to the next level. In 2006 and 2007 she served as a workout leader for Team Danskin and returned to Tri Zones in 2007 as a coach to assist Coach Gina. In 2007, she finished her first marathon and is on the way to her second. She’ll be training for her first half-iron this year and the stars in her eyes are already looking for a full Ironman someday soon. She takes the greatest joy in helping others see their potential and feels unbelievably blessed to be in a position where she can see the first steps of a new triathlete.

Colleen works full time as a microbiologist, teaches art to 5-12 year olds on the weekends, and tries to spend the rest of her time playing as much as possible in her favorite city in the world, Austin. She has wonderfully supportive parents who have always backed her in whatever new idea that pops to mind. Her core strength comes is from the belief that nobody can ever tell you what you can’t do, you are stronger than you think, and that impossible is always a dare.
