Training Tips -- This is IT!!
All your weeks and months of training have come down to this day. It is time to put together everything you have practiced and learned. This is your chance to push yourself.
The night before the race, set out all of your gear and double check everything. You don't want to get to the race only to discover you left your goggles at home. Leave plenty of time in the morning to get to the race site and deal with parking.
When you get to the park, find a spot for your bike and set out your gear. Only participants and volunteers are allowed in the transition zone on race morning. Your family and friends cannot come in to help you get ready. This rule is to ensure the safety of all participants. Also, keep in mind that you cannot remove your bike from transition until after every participant has finished the bike course. Please be courteous to the other athletes.
Triathlons usually have wave starts. Even if you are in a later wave, you should go down to the lake and cheer for the lead athletes. As your start time approaches, get lined up with the other people wearing the same color cap. Once you jump in the lake, you are ready to go.
When the race is over, stick around for the post-race party. There will be food and prizes. Take the time to revel in your success and celebrate with the other people who have competed. Good luck out there!
