Whether you’re just starting out with your first triathlon, or you’ve done a few tri’s and you are ready to get back in the saddle this season, we welcome all abilities. If you are thinking about doing The Rookie, Skeese Greets Women's Tri, CapTexTri, or the Danskin Women's Triathlon we encourage you to start your training now! For more details, visit www.trizones.com.
7. Question of the Week - "What if I need to walk during the ‘run’?"
Lots of people walk the "run" portion of a triathlon. Some people walk a little and run a little, and some people plan to walk the entire course. At a beginner-friendly triathlon like Danskin, you'll see at least 60 - 70% of the women walking at one point or another! The main thing to remember is that you’re out there making forward progress and moving your way through the race course. Whether it’s walking, running, skipping, or hopping, you’ll still be a TRIATHLETE once you cross that finish line!
8. Upcoming training events and workshops

9. Training Tip of the Week – Get outdoors and get moving!
It’s still early, and we’re in the final days of winter. But the sun is starting to peek out from behind the clouds and the weather is turning warmer! Spring triathlon season will be here before you know it, and it’s time to ease yourself into training.
It doesn’t matter what you’re doing – just get moving! Aim for movement at least every other day. If you have a gym membership, you can use the cardio equipment… but one of the greatest things about triathlon training is that you get to do most of it while enjoying the great outdoors. Sunshine, fresh air, and the sounds of nature – what better way to improve your health and enjoy your surroundings?!
So this weekend, go for a walk with your spouse, ride your bike with your kids, try a short jog around the block. There are numerous parks all over the Austin area with fantastic trail systems – explore something new! The Zilker Kite Festival is on Sunday – park at Auditorium Shores and walk along the Lady Bird Lake hike and bike trail to get to the kites at Zilker Park. Or play tourist and do a walking tour of downtown Austin. Play soccer or tag with your kids. Laugh, enjoy, and take in your surroundings. Get moving!!
