Hill Country River Region Classic

When: Oct 11 2008 - 7:00am
Distance: Miles: 34; 52; 68 or 94
Location: Garner State Park
On the Web: http://www.riverregionclass...

Reward yourself with a fully supported bike ride on quiet country roads through some of the most spectacular fall scenery Texas has to offer. The Texas Hill Country River Region Classic starts at 8:00 AM, Saturday, October 11, 2008, from Garner State Park and follows the Frio and Sabinal rivers plus climbs the ridge that divides them. Route choices include 34, 52, 68 and 94 miles with well-stocked rest stops about every 10 miles.

The River Region Classic is an official event of the Texas Hill Country River Region. To preserve the enjoyability of participants, the River Region Classic will be limited to 600 riders. The RRC will be held rain or shine; no refunds will be available. Proceeds of this ride benefit local civic organizations. Because this ride is made possible by the Hotel Occupancy tax, we are able to offer a 20% rebate on registration fees to anyone staying in a THCRR accommodation. Bring your receipt when you check in, and pick up your rebate check after the ride.

A post-ride pasta dinner is provided to all registrants for the 2008 River Region Classic, and a skills clinic on climbing and descending will be presented in the park on Friday evening, October 10.

Registration is now open on BikeReg.com.

This here is a HARD-CORE ride!

Every year I get that email notice and think, "I want to do this someday!". but I've never been brave enough to do it yet.

Yea, the scenery is beautiful tho!

I considered it for a few minutes too.  ;-)

This ride is just 6 days

This ride is just 6 days after Longhorn Half Ironman. I think my coach would shoot me if I tried to do this ride less than a week after Longhorn!

Anyone else gonna sign up for this one?

I am in!!

It is one of my favorite rides--It is quite challening with the hills, but the scenery is worth it!  We get a cabin and stay for the weekend on the Frio River--I have updated the posting above as it the ride starts in Garner State Park, not Dripping Springs!

Gina...

What is the name of the cabins?  Who are you planning on staying with?  My husband doesn't do the road bike thing so just trying to find a little group.

not sure of cabins

A friend made the reservations--so I am not sure, but I think at the ride website they have a link to reservations in the area.. but I would look ASAp as they do fill up fast.  This is a popular ride
