I absolutely love this race. More challenging than sprint, not quite Olympic. Hometown, small race (about 300 usually) feel. They serve you a hamburger lunch afterward and for the really hungry, you can walk a block to the Bluebonnet Cafe for pie!

PIE!!!!!

Oh and the tri is really fun, too!!  :-)

Just signed up...  I also ABSOLUTELY LOVE this triathlon AND the PIE afterward...  The first of the season in the TRI FOR PIE series...

Yeeeeha!
Cindy
ps This is a great tri if you are thinking of going to the olympic distance.  It is right inbetween a sprint and an olympic.  I almost get warmed up in this one... :-)

UMMM

I don't know if I"ll be back on both feet by then. Maybe I can talk the hubby into racing and I'll just tag along for the pie, and to support everyone else, pie, and to take pictures, and did I mention pie?

next goal

well...maybe, I'll have to see how the next session of training goes for me.

maybe next year

Pie sounds great, but I don't have an appetite for 1000m of water.   :o]   Doh!!!!

But!!!

It's a river so there is a current to work with!  ;-)

wowzers!

As the instigator of all the interest in this event, I'm kinda ashamed to say that I only just today signed up.  I'm kind of glad though -- they actually have a nice website just for the MFT now!! I sure hope I'm not dead last in the 50-54 age group like I was in the 45-49 last year... sigh... but we're not competitive.

count me in!

Don't think we'll need to worry about floods this year.

OK - I'm in

Since this race is the closest one I'm ever going to find to my house....I have to give it a tri.  The longer distances will be a challenge, hoping the Pie will be sweet reward for finishing.

you'll probably take home hardware!

as fast as you are, you'll probably get some hardware. You'll hardly notice the distances are longer.

hills?

I am really interested in doing this race, but I am curious about how hilly the bike course is. I know I could do it no matter what, it might just take me awhile, and I might be cursing all the way up! I know the bike course is a bit longer, but how do the hills compare to the danskin course hills(longer, steeper, etc)?  I like this pie idea...

Rollers

Hi Brittney,

It's kind of like Danskin, only about twice as long. Some of the hills are longer, but I don't think they're any steeper. If you've ever ridden 360 or BeeCave, you're all prepared. As I mentioned before, the hardest one is that first long uphill on 281 after crossing the lake. Then things flatten out a little while you travel south to 71. Once out on 71 is when the up n down comes in. A word of advice about the turnaround point: the turnaround comes after a bit of a descent, so shift to a lower/easier gear because you'll have little to no momentum to go back up.  And you'll love the run!

Looking for a Rider!

My husband and I would like to do the the marble falls tri in a relay format.  I would like to swim, my husband can run.  Is there anyone interested in riding for our team?
