The Splash & Dash is a multisport event held at Quarry Lake at Pure Austin North. The swim will be one loop of the lake (approx. 750m) and 3 loops on the running trail (approx 3 km). Wave starts will be utilized, depending upon the total number of participants. Water and other nutrition products will be available. Please bring your own swim gear & running gear. Swim caps are required. Results will be posted online. Awards/Prizes for the top finishers.

Lifeguards and safety personnel will be present, but this is not an event for first time open water swimmers. Noodles, swim buoys, or other swim aides are not permitted.

I forgot running stuff but kicked myself for not doing this last month (but had a blast as a spectator). What's not to like about swimming in Quarry Lake and then running around it in June? $10 is a bargain! you'd pay more than that for a day pass to Pure Austin. And don't forget - there will be refreshments (hotdog/veggie burger and coke/beer) afterwards! If your training schedule has 750 m swim and a nice 3k run on it for that day, you're set. They will only take ONLINE registrations though, and only till 3pm day of event. Although this says it's not for ows beginners, there are a few kayaks (I counted 4-5 over the 750 meters)-Remember Carla at the mini-tri?? with noodles. I saw lots of people bail before they reached probably 100 meters and swim back to the dock, but nobody on a TriZones team would be unprepared. Do it. I'll be there.

Maybe we can do one of these in TriZones training
For the Northies? I'm always looking for an opportunity to time my swim, and it is located north . . .

Update on the cookies...
OK. So, they did have crappy cookies at the end but they also had...
OREOS!! Yeeeeeha! The only thing better would be 'DOUBLE STUFFED OREOS'!! But, might have to swim twice around to earn those...
I wonder if they ever thought of having 'healthy' food at these things... Hhhmmmmm... What a concept??!? :-)

I'll be there!
Just signed up this morning. This is an incredible event. I've watched and it's amazing to watch all the different levels all working together. You must be able to safely swim the distance though. There are kayakers out there, but don't totally rely on them.
Look forward to seeing you all out there!

Free beer!
I'm not going to kid myself...I like the free beer at the end (oh and the food, too).

All signed up!
After swimming 1.2 miles today, 750m will seem like a sprint! See you in the beer line, Kendra!

Well, Annette is right!! This event is an absolute blast!!! And she forgot to mention that they also have doritos and crappy cookies at the end... :-) But, all FREE. Not bad, for ten bucks...
I just signed up; see y'all Tuesday!! I do hate that it conflicts with practice but hopefully, Coach Tracy is at least comforted by the fact we are getting a darn good workout!
Yeeeeeeha!
