Rob and Amber
Rob did the Longhorn Aquabike last year (Swim and bike only) then he did do a half at Lonestar.
This is Amber's First Half--Wahoo!!
Anybody hear from Birthday Girl Annette yet? I think she was planning on doing it.
Have a great race! Remember to always have fun!
Amber

READY!!
I'll be there... Should be fun!! :-)
Last I heard, Annette would not be doing the 1/2 but will most likely be out there supporting and cowbelling... It wouldn't be the same without her!!
Red, if you have room to cart the tent, that would be great... I don't have room for the tent and my bike...
Enjoy the taper! Yeeeeeeha!
Cindy

Saturday, right?
So long as I can drop off the tent on Saturday. I will definitely have room for it.
Red
"Yeah, I swim/bike/run like a girl."

MOOOO!!!!
Translation....I'm in. Yeeha! taper is my friend.

What about your Hubby?
Is Kenneth In?
Red
"Yeah, I swim/bike/run like a girl."

It's on!!!!
The taper has definately been the best part of this training regimen. lol. Let's do it.
John AKA JR
I'm in to relay. I'm swimming!
I'll be there doing the swim leg for a friend who crashed and has an infection on her arm. She can't swim right now. I offered to swim for her. We're also going to have a BBQ tent with another group that my husband belongs to (BeginnerTriathlete). We'll come say hi at the Tri Zones tent!

The hubby is in training
Marathon training that is... He will be at swim out to pull us out of the water and up the hill.

Warning!
I was looking through the race packet and noticed some differences that you might want to think about. You have to have a race # on while on the bike. According to the packet, we get a bike bib # and a run bib #. But you can use the run # through out just turn it from backwards on the bike to forwards on the run. Something to think about in transition. Second, penalties are done on the course, you have to stop and have a time out. If you don't stop at the penalty tent when you are flagged you can be DQ'ed. Trizoners won't have that problem but just wanted you to know!

Race info
The race info said you must wear your bike number on the back and you must wear your run number on the front.
Well, when I wear my belt, my number ends up riding around back (from the sheer G force. I'm sure) when I run and I'll pull it to the front as I approach the finish line.
But the packet instructions were so ominous, I think I might just pin both numbers to my cycling jersey so nothing moves.
Red
"Gah, this taper is killing me!"

Race belt should be fine.
I've never heard of anyone being hasseled because of this, and I know mine has definitely ridden up/around. I imagine the most that would potentially happen is they'd yell at you to turn your number to the front, but I bet even that wouldn't happen. (I'm definitely wearing mine.)

Volunteering
I'll be at body marking and transition.
Sammye
voluteered...late...have not heard anything yet...
Annette...are you in?

Yay for volunteers!!!
Thanks, guys... It will be great to see you out there!
Cindy

Volunteers are the best!
If you see me on the race course Sunday, be sure to give me a little push! Just kidding! Thanks to everyone who is volunteering. It's a tough job that a lot of people take for granted!

BSL 1/2 was the same as what
BSL 1/2 was the same as what Vickie said. You had to wear your run number while on the bike. And yes, if you get a penalty while on the bike you have to stop at the next penalty station. Depending on what you get a penatly for depends on how long you have to stay. At BSL, when you got a penalty and got to the station, they would give you a stop watch. You had to sign in and out or you got DQ'd . Also, the drafting rules are different. It is 4 bike lengths for the drafting zone so you will have to watch your distance. I believe they told us it was about 10 meters. Another rule was that you race your age. So if you are 29 currently but your birthday is later this year, you will be racing with the 25-29 year olds.
Hope everyone has a good race. I am sure everyone will do great. See you at the waters edge. I am sure I will have some encouraging words for you all as I pull you out of the water. You will most likely see me on the run with a beer in one hand and a bell in ther other shouting some more encouraging words.

Ok its Official...
Since I had to fess up and face the music last night at Doss, I'm officially in for my first Half Iron. :-)
I am doing Longhorn too! I
I am doing Longhorn too! I am new to Trizones, I really enjoyed meeting everyone at the track last night. Good Luck to everyone racing and Thank You to everyone volunteering!

Yes and a special shout out to Annette!
I know you must be jet lagging and you were still there volunteering, stuffing packets, handing them out with a smile and a lei (!). And we look forward to seeing you out on the course. Thanks for all of the volunteering you do--seen and unseen.
Thank you to everyone out there volunteering and racing. In my first Danskin race, I had the hard but most important lesson of all: Even when you get THREE flats in one race, it's all about having FUN! SO YEE HAW and WAHOOO!
Rock N Roll,
Amber

Colleen will be there, too!!
Just heard from Colleen that she is racing. Hopefully, she will add to the post in person but I at least wanted the volunteers and racers to know to look for her!!
Yeeeeeha!
Is it Sunday yet??!? :-)
Cindy
