Dude Girl Tri - looking for volunteers!

I'm back at it, recruiting volunteers for another Red Licorice Event!  I know the Dude Girl race is the same day as the Burnet Tri Hard, but if you happen to find yourself not at Burnet, please consider volunteering for Dude Girl!  It's an Olympic distance race for women, but we welcome all volunteers.  It takes place at Pace Bend Park on September 20.

This race benefits two charities.  The Young Survival Coalition is an organization dedicated to Young Women United Against Breast Cancer.  Also benefiting is the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department.

The race takes place on Sunday, September 20, 2009.  We need help on other days too - we have positions open on September 5 (packet stuffing), 19 (setup), & 20 (race day.  Check out the registration page for details.

All volunteers receive a free t-shirt, food, parking, and "Pay it Forward" volunteer points. Setup and teardown duty gets double PIF points!   And volunteers who register for 3 Red Licorice events also have a chance at the end of the season to win an Orbea Mountain bike worth over $1500.00!

**Even if you're racing, we could use your help with packet stuffing and packet pickup before the race or teardown afterwards.  Also, please pass this along to anyone who might want to come watch you race on Sunday!  Let's put them to work if they're coming all the way there!

Click here to sign up today!

Thank you for your help in making this event a success!!

Sincerely,
Pam Tobias, Trizoner since 2004

Be treated like royalty!!!

OK.  Pam is recently new to the volunteer coordinator position with the Red Licorice people.  But, I must say she is 'Volunteer Coordinator' Extraordinaire!!!!

At Sweet and Twisted she took SUCH good care of her volunteers.  I want to think that I am just special...  But, I have a feeling she treats all her volunteers that way...  So, Kristen, did she treat you really special that day, too?

We got lots to eat.  And I mean lots!!  That is not the case at all events, am I right, Annette??!?  And the event personnel, including Pam, were constantly monitoring things and seemed to appreciate our questions, requests for assistance and need for info!

And towards the end of the race, when it got really hot, one of the lead Red Licorice ladies came over with cold wet towels for the volunteers...  Ahhhhhhh...  I almost fell in love... ;-)

It was a great volunteer experience so don't hesitate to help her out if you can.  Pam and her crew will take royal care of you!!!!

And does any other event offer 'volunteer points' as discounts for their events??  Novel idea...

Thanks, Pam!!
Cindy

I could not have put it better myself!

I could not have put it better myself!  I got to volunteer at Sweet and Twisted and also the Cougar 5k and both events were outstanding. Pam really does a GREAT job coordinating the volunteers and making sure that everyone feels appreciated and special. There was never any confusion about what I needed to do or where I needed to be. Very well organized!!

And Cindy was not exaggerating about the food…there was tons.

If you get a chance to volunteer do it! It will hands down be the best volunteering experience. I can’t be at this one because I will be racing at Burnett, but I plan on volunteering at the Sweet and Twisted DU earlier in September.

Awww

Y'all are too kind!  I'm so happy to hear that you both had such good experiences.  I just try to treat people the way I'd like to be treated and it seems to work out for all of us.  I've found that people are so happy to help and it's fun to be around happy people!

And I don't mean to imply any pressure at all on anyone to volunteer.  If it sounds like fun to you, come on out.  If not, don't.  It's that simple! I didn't take this job to pressure or guilt my friends into volunteering.  It's not like that at all.
