Two years ago was my last visit...and the kids did the Ironfish. I'm seriously considering going again....

It's looking appealing again!

I do want to make sure people are aware that this is the same day as Jack's Generic.  I know it's hard to go out of town for a race when there is one that is local.  But, this really is a great race, with an awesome swag bag, and the course is about as flat as you can get with gentle rolling hills.

I don't remember it being flat. Not the bike part anyway. One really long slope then three table top short hills at the back. But even with that, this is my all time favorite bike race course!

They are really cool about letting those of 'us' who are registered to do River Cities volunteer for packing stuffing duty for Jack's Generic so you still get credit for the series. And after seeing how much fun volunteering for the Cedar Park Kids' Tri was, I might have to go and help with IronFish this year (and then race RiverCities to get the cool schwag). And then take side trips to LadyBird's hometown, etc.....

Got a reminder email today that registration starts June 1st at 6am.  Only 1000 slots.  Email also said this will be the best bag yet!

For anyone that was interested, tomorrow morning (6am) is when registration opens.  The field is limited to 1000 racers, and they say this will be the best bag yet since it is the 30 yr anniversary.  Race didn't sell out last year or year before, but previous years the race sold out in 1-2 hours.

I didn't call Holiday Inn this time because to get the RCT rate I think you have to talk to someone named Heather (I think) in Marketing. Well, the race will be sold out by the time "Heather" arrives at Holiday Inn Bossier (on Old Minden Rd) tomorrow. So.... remembering that there's a Quality Inn right behind it, which is also very near Airline (alternate way to race site, which does not require that left-hand turn), I used the USAT choicesportshotel discount and got my room for $79 a night.

We're staying at the La Quinta just across the street from Holiday Inn. Good for building points on our returns club with them. Also, HI site says their pool is closed until further notice. And La Quinta was less expensive!

Looking forward to a great road trip in August!

Lynn, I forgot about La Quinta (although there are like 6 hotels right there, including Hampton Inn), so if they had anything left, I guess I could change. How much was your room at La Quinta?

at the Holiday Inn for $82/night.  Just called just now and they still had rooms available, both smoking and non-smoking.

My family lives in Shreveport, so this might be fun to do so they can come watch me...you're sure it's a fun race???=) LOL...just hard for me to imagine Shreveport having something exciting!

Yup, I'm sure!  The goodies you get alone will make it worth it!  And they have REAL food at the end.

I signed up! My family isn't going to believe it.

I'm supposed to do Couple's on the 11th (haven't signed up yet, but committed to a friend to do it with him ...do you think 2 weeks will be enough time to recover and be ready?

I will be there looking for some trizoners. 

I just checked and RCT registration is now closed. Guess I'd better start swimming and running more......

those of us who have gone to RiverCities before know that we put together a spreadsheet with people's cell numbers, emergency contact, when they are leaving, where they are staying, etc. It is helpful for carpooling and such. I would be happy to put one together if you would like to participate. I have some of your cell numbers but not all.  You can just click on my name and send email from this website with your information.  Suggested fields:

name

cell number

emergency contact name

emergency contact number

when you are leaving

where you are staying

vehicle info (what it looks like and lic. plate number if you are okay with that)

We won't know our race numbers until we pick up our packets. If you decide to use the contact me button on this website, please also include your email address - I can't remember if it informs the recipient of the return address.

 BTW, SarahG, the Clif Bar site says they will be in Shreveport, TEXAS on Aug 1 ! maybe you can show them a map. Shreveport is in Louisiana!
