Question about asthma inhaler
Do I need to get anything from my Dr to be able to have an asthma inhaler at the Danskin race? Can I just keep it with me, or at transition?
Thanks,
Susan

Its fine
Albuterol is only a banned stimulant in the Olympics ;)
Plenty of people race with them. Keep it with you (not sure what you'd do with it in the water) but maybe in the back pocket of your jersey for the bike and run. Its better for you to have it with you if you need it than to wait for medical personnel.

If you need it coming out of the water...
You should get a volunteer to hand it to you. Or sometimes there is a table with prescription eye glasses for people who need them right near the swim exit. You could probably put it on that table.Â
If a spectator or friend hands it to you, it is actually against USAT rules. Outside assistance is not allowed. You might get away with it at Danskin but at other races you would be less likely to get away with assistance like that. It can mean a penalty if a USAT official sees the hand off.
Rules, rules... :-)
Hope you are excited about the race!!

Thanks Girls!
I can keep it with me except for swim. I hopefully will not need it, but knowing my luck, if I didn't bring it, something would happen... lol

Is it waterproof?
I do not see any reason why you would need special permission to take your inhaler.
You can keep it with you the whole race if you can swim with it in a pocket, or better, if you think you might need it immediately before or after the swim have a sherpa (friend) take it at your swim wave start, then had it back to you as you come out of the water and head back to transition.Â
If you are confident you will not need it during the swim you can leave it in transition or on your bike and take it with you on the run.
