Tracy Nelson

Founder and Head Coach - North teams, NXNW Women's-Only team, and Running team

Tracy is the Head Coach of our North Beginner and Intermediate teams. She is also the Head Coach of our marathon and half marathon training programs.

Tracy became hooked on triathlons after completing her first Danskin race in 1997. Tracy has completed over 30 triathlons since then, including every Danskin race but one. Inspired by the mentoring and empowerment that makes up the Danskin experience, Tracy resolved to help other women achieve their goals of finishing the Danskin.

Tracy has played the role of mentor, coach, and volunteer in the triathlon community over the years. She was involved with Team Danskin Training since its inception in 2002. She was the Head Coach for Team Danskin Training, North Austin and/or NXNW from 2004 - 2007 and was the Team Danskin Regional Coordinator for Texas in 2006-07.

Tracy and Gina founded Tri Zones Training, a Heart Zones training program that followed in the footsteps of Team Danskin, allowing dozens of women to continue their triathlon and running training throughout the year.

Tracy is a USA Triathlon Certified Coach (Level I). She has served as a coach at Camp Danskin, and a coach at the WomenTri training program. Tracy has been on the Danskin-Austin race committee and was the author of the "Danskin Austin This Week" e-newsletter. Tracy has played an active role in the Austin triathlon community, serving on several race committees and has served on the board of Austin Triathletes, the fifth largest triathlon club in the nation. In 2004, Tracy was awarded Mentor of the Year by the Austin Triathletes. As a mother and author, Tracy feels strongly that her triathlon training helps keep her life balanced.
