Its our 27th Anniversary and we have lots of great surprises in store for the oldest, largest, most recognized triathlon in the South. This will be another fantastic year. Lots of great surprises, of course the best race packet and volunteers anywhere.
Registration opens June 1st @ 6:00 am. Don't forget we filled our 1300 spots in 3 hours last year!
We will see you at the "Best Lil Triathlon in the South."

Seems they are already
Seems they are already booked! :( Maybe I'll call back at a more reasonable hour and try again. What was the name of the other hotel next door?

Rob and I are in!
Good morning !(too early!)
Rob and I are both signed up! Can't wait! I left a msg, like you said Annette, for Holiday Inn. Just in case, I also reserved a room at Diamond Jack's. Going up the 4th and returning the 5th, right?
Amber

yay!
this is soooo much fun. There's also Shoney's, and a Comfort Inn (which gives USAT members a discount) close by. The online reservation for Holiday Inn does not work -- you have to call the sales office and they probably won't be in till 8am. That's why I got my room the other day before registration opened. I'm glad the Z family will be coming along!

Holiday Inn is Available so Far...
Hey everyone,
Wendy and Heather won't be back until Monday. But I talked to a guy named Douglas (i think) and got a double room for the RCT rate. I think if you called and talked to him, you could still get into Holiday Inn.

Thanks! I called again and
Thanks! I called again and spoke to a different woman and she was able to get me a reservation number. Confirmation# 68512476. (I'm putting it here just in case I lose the number by August.) ;)

Should we change hotels?
I have a reservation at the Diamond jack's casino but want to be closest to the venue. Does anyone know which is closest or are we close enough?
Just drove through Bossier today on our way back from Mississippi--can't wait!
Amber

Holiday Inn and La Quinta
Holiday Inn and La Quinta are right next door to each other and thats probably the closest you'll find.

Diamond Jacks is close also
That's where we had the pre-event pasta dinner last year. You might run into Jimmy (or his wife) They stayed there last year.Diamond Jack's isn't far from Holiday/La Quinta/Shoney's/Comfort/Quality Inn, etc.
We'll all keep in touch about the pre-event dinner, etc.
Stay tuned. I'm sure Tracy will put together a spreadsheet with who's going, who's driving, who's staying where, etc. etc. etc.

Alternate route to Shreveport?
Can someone who knows the 'alternate route' to Shreveport post the directions here? I've done the I-35N to I-20E south of Dallas routine the past two years but this year I think we'll do the 'alternate route'. I think you exit a road near Waco and go through Cameron or something?
TIA,
- Annette

Count us in!
Rob and I should be there by pasta time. I may not race--I am overcoming bronchitis and am having a hard time just breathing. Training has been put on hold for a few weeks. :(
Annette, We've gone through Tyler TX to get to Shreveport before. Shorter but not as fast is my thinking.
We have reservations for Fri now at Diamond Jack's but Rob may not be able to leave work Fri. How long is this trip? I can't remember.
Wahoo!
Amber
Keep on keepin' on!

Make sure you leave EARLY Saturday
The last two years I've gotten there about 3:30 (it's a 6 hr drive from my house up 35 and over to I-20) and wondered if they would shut the doors before I got to them (the packet pickup line can be very long and snakes around in the parking lot in the baking Louisiana August sun). I think we've stressed it a lot - the earlier the better! Same for race day, so you don't get pigeonholed into a 3 inch rackspace and endup with a time penalty because there was no transition volunteer to help you rack properly.
The bike racks might look a little different to you, they use some kind of double-tubed arrangement that makes it a little confusing which side your wheel is supposed to be 'down' on. USAT rules say the down side is supposed to correspond with whichever side your race number falls.
HC, I didn't get your number in the spreadsheet from last night (I thought sure I had it in the TDT WOL list, too!). But I think you got the spreadsheet so if you need anything call one of us.
Be safe! See everyone soon!

Holiday Inn Bossier City information
The website is not working properly for reservations -- I've just made my reservation by phone. Since Holiday Inn has blocked off rooms for RCT, you have to contact the sales office. Call Heather or Wendy at 318-742-9700 and mention you want the River Cities Triathlon Rate. The rate is $82 per night whether you get a king room or a 2 double room.
